If, in the late sixties, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., said:
“No one who has any concern for the integrity and life of America today can ignore the present war [Vietnam]”.
Then today’s version would be:
No one fighting for greater social justice in the US today, who is not first and foremost working to end our wars on the world, has the credibility required to uphold their moral stance or to garner the sympathy of those they in turn are helping to oppress.
Activism in America has been corrupted: We have put the lesser before the greater, and history will judge us for doing so.
